Test Anxiety

The Anxiety and Depression Association of America lists three primary causes of text anxiety:  fear of failure, lack of preparation, and poor test history.  The symptoms that students or employees who are suffering from text anxiety may be similar to generalized anxiety, and include physical, emotional, and cognitive symptoms such as:

  • Chest pain

  • Gastrointestinal problems

  • Headache

  • Light headedness

  • Nausea

  • Racing heart

  • Shortness of breath

  • Sweating

  • Feelings of fear

  • Feelings of doom

  • Feelings of helplessness

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Negative thinking
